The Search for the Most Ingenious and Intriguing Curtains

In a living room curtains can bring a great deal of personalized style to the space, and in bathrooms the same can be said of shower curtains. I myself have become enamoured with some of the latest versions of both, and have taken it upon myself to share with you what I think are some of the most ingenious and intriguing curtains around.

I guess you could say I have sort of made a hobby out of searching for what I consider to be the most outrageous, and inspired curtains. It all came about quite by chance when I was doing an internet search for a particular shower curtain. What I was looking for was what I simply refer to as the pet shower curtain. If you have not seen this design yet, and have a pet, then this is definitely something you will want to investigate. It is a basic clear curtain, but it has gloved sleeves for the person washing their pet to insert their hands. These sleeves are extendable so that you can reach a pet of any height, and size. Well, let me correct that statement, any pet that can fit into a tub or shower that is. It is meant to make the process of bathing your creatures less messy, and safer than the normal tactics.

This brought me to a curtain that contains magnets at certain locations throughout it, which allow you to make different shapes with the curtain. All you have to do is either push the curtain in the direction of a magnet, or pull it away from a magnet to make the shape you want, and it stays that way till the next time you alter it. I might also mention that is quite a good looking curtain along with being inventive.

I then located some funny shower curtains that could be considered educational, if anyone were to actually read them. One is the map of the London Underground System. While you would have some difficulty trying to navigate through it while in the shower, it could prove to be quite handy at other times. But, I like it for its whimsy personally.

The last one to grab my attention was the periodic table of elements curtain. Now, I for one was not an over achiever when it came to memorising this thingamabob in school, but now that it is not being force on me I have a new found appreciation for it, and it makes me chuckle. But, I believe that any of these would actually be a good addition to a happy home, hanging from curtain poles. Needless to say there were tons more that I encountered, but they didn’t jump out at me in the same way that these did. As my journey continues, I promise to share what I find.

The Smart Way to Bring Art Into the Garden

All too often, we focus so steadily on filling our homes with interesting art, and decorative pieces, but our gardens are left empty of these wonderful things. I notice this when visiting the outdoor space of friends and family frequently. Because I saw this in my own parent’s garden, I have consistently made an effort to do the opposite.

In fact, I have come up with what I believe to be the best of ideas when it comes to collecting artwork for a garden. I purchase things while on holiday, and trips. We are all familiar with finding regional items for sale that we love when visiting a place. However, more often than not once we get those keepsakes home we acknowledge that they clearly will not work in any room of our home.

Therefore, when travelling, I consciously buy souvenirs that are weather proof, weather resistant, or that I expect to weather well. Everyone that has been to my dwelling knows this about me, and more than a few have taken this idea on as their own.

To say it works out perfectly would be a bit misleading, for on occasion I have run into some difficulty with transporting a few of these objects via airplane. Still, I learned rather quickly to be more judicious with my selections. Now, I either limit myself to smallish metal works, wooden crafts or glass designs that I know can be brought on flights. Or, I ship them, and get the excitement of their arrival via courier once I have returned home.

Getting Caught Up in All the Shiny New Sites of Interest

I often wonder how many people, who are not in the blogging business, or the furniture business know about all the crazy cool websites there are that cover home goods. Literally, each and every time I do a search regarding this topic I encounter at least three amazing sites I never knew existed. They are not just pretty, they are informative. Not to mention the level of creativity that is being expressed and shared pretty much is mind-blowing.

I have to force myself to limit my searches, and reviews of these sites, or the hours slip by. The things that people choose to focus on range from the enormously broad topics, to the ridiculously small, and yet so many of them have value, and at the very least a curious material base. No wonder major television networks keep reporting lower ratings, and less viewers, when you can hone in on what your interests are right here on the World Wide Web. It sincerely is a phenomenal time we are going through on many different levels, where we go next is just a guess.

The Latest Ways to Protect Your Personal Electronics

One of the neatest things that I have come across in my shopping this year are the protective covers being made for electronic tablets, and readers. Yes, I have spent a great deal of time boning up on my knowledge of the latest and greatest of both of these. And, each have impressive qualities to be sure. But, the inexpensive covers really got my praise.

I am one who will baby my personal electronics so as not to scratch, or damage them. This means on occasion I will avoid certain places if I am concerned about the impact it might have on things like my laptop or iphone. But now, with the invention of these covers, I will take my reader to the beach, and throw it in my handbag with out a second thought. And as for the tablet, I will brave every place I want to with it too. Needless to say I am a strong advocate for these covers.

Make Your Own Elegant Chair Garland

So here it is another year, another Christmas dinner and you want to make some changes to your decorations. It is always exciting to revamp your holiday dinning table, and with the economy the way it is taking your decorative display to an all new level might just be the way to make everyone feel luxurious and decadent if only for one day.

This year we are going all out on dining chair garlands, in a design that resembles wedding party bouquets. We will use rich rose coloured ribbons with sequined piping, gold dipped pinecones, and mistletoe along with the greenery. Then to finish them off we will tie in a few crystal ornaments.

Once the evening is coming to a close, we will detach the elegant arrangements from the chairs and give them to the guests to bring home to enjoy. Hopefully, this will keep the feeling of that special day spent together going for a few more days.

The Handy Way to Do a Quick Clean

To be quite honest, I thought my mother in law was a freakin mad woman when it came to, of all things, baby wipes. Often when we visited her, or she us, she behaved in a way akin to a drill sergeant over the darn baby wipes. It came to be that I lived in slight fear should we be inside, outside, in a car, or otherwise and be caught without a supply of the things readily available she would catch us.

And then a funny thing happened; I came around to her way of thinking once I learned how useful the silly little cloths are on a day to day basis. The list of things I use them for is long, but here are a few favourites to entice you into the wonderful world of wipes.

Use the disposable cloths to clean phones, purse linings, sink faucets, sinks, light switches, the exterior of the washer and dryer, hand held weights, lipstick residue on glasses, toilet handles, refrigerator handles, the soles of shoes, and so much more. To be honest I use them on stuff that I have even been told not to, like my computer keyboard, my granite countertops, the screen of my computer and cell phone etc. So happy to pass on this new obsession on to you.

Bed that Converts Into a Desk is a Smart Choice

Do not know if you can remember the old Murphy beds of yesteryear, but there are there are some intriguing newer models out there. Specifically of interest, is the computer bed.  It functions on gas assisted pistons, for a smooth transfer from bed to desk, and back to bed again. The computer desk portion is of course the headboard section, and attached is a metal bed frame along with a wooden slat base. The factory can actually make a customized version of this item for you to meet your desktop and workspace needs. We think this is pretty nifty, and considering the space it frees up, the price is not bad either.

How to Correct a Storage Challenged Home

When you are limited on storage space, you start to look at vacant areas in your home, that you never took much notice of before, very differently. One such area is the area underneath a bathroom sink. If your have a floating sink design, where there are no cabinets beneath, then this is valuable indeed.

The way to correct the problem of having a storage challenged home is to look at every inch of unused space as potential. Thus, that space under the sink should be filled with a floating shelf. It is an excellent spot to claim because it is primarily concealed due to placement. To cover up all that you shove onto this shelf, select decorative boxes with lids. Then go to town and hide anything, and everything, you can in them.
